Swink Cares

Because so many of our close friends, family and customers have been touched in some way by cancer we wanted to create a way to use the unique set of services and the talents of its team members to directly and positively help people in the midst of their treatment.

Inspired by a very special client and patient at Children’s Hospital, we have started our own initiative and partnership with Children’s Hospital where we provide our services free of charge to children and teens, and the mom’s of those kids, who are battling cancer. We have a “Swink Cares” hotline for Seattle Children’s staff and whenever they have a patient who needs to feel pretty or feel like a normal teen; or when they have a mom who just needs a break, they call us and we either provide mobile services on-site or they can come to Swink for some much needed pampering.

We have talked extensively with the doctors and social workers and while we can’t make the claim that a makeover cures cancer, we do know that the battle against cancer is mental AND physical. After these girls have been “swinked” they look better and they feel better. If feeling better brightens their day or their mood or makes them feel just 1% stronger in their battle, then its worth it to us. Beauty CAN be good medicine!

The Swink Creators

Natalie Angelillo, Co-Owner

Startup pro Natalie knows a thing or two about great visuals and style. She has helped plenty of other businesses get going, and she has been a CEO herself. At Getty Images and PhotoDisc, Natalie helped reinvent the stock photo biz. As a consultant in industries ranging from toys to cycling, Natalie shaped growth and development strategies, plotted new markets, and secured key venture capital. This busy mom and veteran fundraiser is also on the board of directors at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle’s premier contemporary art museum. Her favorite hairstyle? Depends on her mood and where she is headed, but you will usually find her with the G&T, her signature, which takes her from the boardroom to the carpool.

Jacquie Byrne, Co-Owner

Jacquie is known around here as the Get-it-Done Queen. This entrepreneur and customer service diva got her start with two companies that know great service and a memorable experience: Nordstrom and Starbucks. From there she took her managerial prowess to a premium coffee company on the East Coast, where she grew profits with her strategic moves and by building the right team. She’s also an active volunteer with grassroots organizations in the community. And it doesn’t stop there. The ‘Queen’ owns this town with her tried and true Fifth Avenue blowout, looking oh-so polished as she runs the show and flips that hair.
