Do I come in with dirty or clean hair?
It depends on which service you would like. See below.
Do you wash my hair with a blowout?
Yes, we first shampoo and condition your hair. We will blow out your hair to give it volume, smoothness and movement. We generally can do a blow-out in 30 minutes (with a few exceptions) and it is only $35. The exception to a 30 minute blowout is if you have long, thick, coarse, wavy, or curly hair. This could take closer to 45 minutes (the price is still $35) but we would need to schedule more time for the appointment so please let us know your hair type and length when you make your appointment.
What is a dry style?
A dry style is any style from our menu (except the blowout). A dry style is recommended if are coming for an updo, want curls or have a particular style not on the menu that you would like our stylists to replicate. If you want your dry hair styled then come in with dry, clean hair or one-day old hair.
What if I want my hair washed, blown out and then styled?
If you would like your hair washed, blown out and then styled and curled, just let us know so we can appropriately schedule your appointment based on your hair length and texture. The appointment will need to be scheduled for approx 45-60 min and the cost would be $50.
I have hair extensions – can I still get my hair styled at Swink?
Yes, we can style your bonded or braided extensions that are currently in your hair and we can typically do this within a 30 minute dry hair style appointment. Often, a blowout with braided or bonded extensions takes a little longer so please just let us know if you have extensions when booking your appointment.
I want to bring some clip in hair extensions can you put those in and style them?
If you need us to clip in the extensions and then style your hair, add 15 minutes to the time of appointment and $15 to the cost of the dry style appointment.
Does Swink offer Brazilian blow outs?
We offer the Keratin Express Brazilian Smoothing Treatment. Keratin Express is a revolutionary conditioning treatment that takes less time, less money and less hassle than traditional keratin treatments to achieve smooth, shiny, healthy hair.
What’s the difference between Keratin Express and most traditional keratin treatments?
Keratin Express is to “traditional” treatments like semi-permanent color is to permanent color. Keratin Express offers clients the same great conditioning/smoothing results, but at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional treatments.
What’s in it?
Keratin Express is totally formaldehyde free. It contains its exclusive Cyprosil Complex, which includes cationically modified hydrolyzed keratin and cystine peptides, producing immediate and noticeable smoothing, shining and conditioning.
How long does it take for a complete service and how long does it last?
About 60-75 minutes based on average hair length and density. Results last an average of 4 weeks.
Who is Keratin Express for?
Anyone who wants shinier, smoother, healthier hair. Keratin Express works best on porous or chemically processed hair. Applications on virgin hair will show the best results after the 2nd or 3rd treatment.
How frequently can I get a treatment?
Every 4 to 6 weeks as needed.
What if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
It is generally NOT recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women as the company does not provide any information specifically relating clinical testing on pregnant woman.
What is the result of the treatment?
It makes unruly hair more manageable and easier to style and adds brilliant shine to dull hair. Curly/frizzy hair will be incredibly smooth! Blow-dry time will be cut significantly. Straightening is a breeze with a blow dryer & brush or flat iron. Consecutive treatments will have an increasing smoothing and conditioning effect. This is an entirely formaldehyde free product!
If I’ve had a Brazilian blow out, do I need to do anything special before coming into Swink?
No, you do not need to do anything special but just let us know when you are booking your appointment.
What is Hair Tinsel?
Hair Tinsel is the latest celebrity trend! Swink Style Bar is the first to offer it in the Seattle area. The “tinsel” itself is a strand of shimmering silk that is tied into the hair one strand at a time. The effect can be as bold or subtle as you like. They come in a wide range of colors; from platinum and gold to black or any number of bright colors! They look good on women of all ages and can be an every day accent or tied in for a special occasion. (holiday, dance team, sports event – the ideas are endless) It only takes about 30 minutes to tie about 8 strands into the hair. Once they are tied in you can wash, dry or style your hair with any heat tool and they simply come out naturally over the course of a few weeks (or you can easily remove them whenever you want). What are Feather Extensions?
Swink is offering the latest trend in innovative hair accessories! Feather extensions are specially designed extensions – they come in a wide range of styles and colors. We can apply as few or as many as you like.
How long do the extensions last?
They last for about 4-6 weeks or until the bead grows out. We can remove the feather before the grow-out time as well. The feathers can often be re-used.
How do I take care of my feather extensions?
Just as you would your own hair. You can shampoo, blow dry, flatiron, or curl with your hair.

Do you cut hair?
Nope. Never. You aren’t cheating on your hairdresser when you come to Swink!
Makeup
What type of makeup do you use?
We carry FACE Stockholm, Susan Posnick and Armour Beauty. Our makeup lines are great for any kind of skin, especially sensitive skin. We also offer one-time false eyelashes ($15) as well as semi-permanent eyelash extensions. (see lash extensions below for details)
Lashes
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are individual “false” lashes that come in many different lengths, widths, and curls and are applied lash by lash with a special bonding agent to your own individual lashes. They are not applied to your skin. They enhance and improve your natural beauty.
What is the first appointment like?
After you check in at the front desk, we will ask you to complete our new client form, and remove any eye makeup. Our lash stylists will have you lie on a massage table where your eyes will be closed for the duration of the process. You may talk, sleep or listen to music. We use a collagen eye-pad on your under eye area and tape your lashes down with surgical tape while the synthetic extensions are being applied. The process is painless and can be quite relaxing.
What should I do before I get my first full set?
You should come with clean lashes (do not use an oil-based makeup remover or curl them) or you can remove your makeup and mascara at the salon when you arrive. We have makeup remover that we recommend using at the salon. We also ask that you arrive a few minutes early so that you can fill out our new client form and ask any questions you might have. Our lash estheticians will explain everything to you during your appointment and send you home with a special lash brush and care sheet.
Can I have lash extensions if I wear contacts?
Yes, just take them out if it bothers you to have your eyes closed for any length of time as your initial appointment will last approximately 2 hours.
Can you feel the lash extensions or are they heavy?
No, unlike temporary strip lashes or temporary lashes applied with adhesive to your eyelid skin, these “weightless” lashes are applied to your own natural lash. You might notice them for the first 24 hours because they are new but once you adjust, you will not feel or notice them anymore than you feel or notice you own natural lashes.
How often should I get my lashes filled?
Generally, lash extensions will last 2-4 weeks. Many factors can affect the longevity of the lash extensions such as your own lash growth cycle, wear and tear, sleep patterns, and how well you take care of them. We typically suggest getting a fill every 2-4 weeks in order to keep them looking full and fabulous. Our fill appointments typically take about an hour.
How should I take care of my lashes?
Lash extensions are easy to maintain. Avoid excessive rubbing and picking. Use a lash brush to brush them (we will provide one for you) out in the morning and night and gently use non oil-based makeup remover or cleansers. We do not recommend using a lash curler and you won’t need mascara with the lash extensions but you can use certain kinds of mascara for an even more dramatic look. Talk to your lash esthetician for specific recommendations.
Can anyone apply lash extensions?
No, you must be a licensed esthetician. It is important to work with someone with experience and training. Applying lash extensions is not only a skill but an art. Your lashes come in all shapes and curls and are as unique as you are. Our lash technicians are extremely well trained and experienced at dealing with even the most difficult cases. We will work with you to make sure that we achieve the look you are striving for!
I had my initial full set done somewhere else. Can I still come to Swink for a fill?
Absolutely. We will need you to complete a eyelash extension consent form first but we welcome anyone will existing lash extensions and needs a fill.
What if it has been longer than 4 weeks since my last fill? Do I need to get another full set?
We offer extended lash fills (90 minutes) if you happen to go too long between fills
What if I have a problem, question or concern?
Call us or email us immediately! We are here to help, troubleshoot or answer any questions you might have! Please note, lash extensions are not for everyone. We rarely see reactions to the lashes or bonding glue, but some people are extra sensitive and cannot tolerate them. If you think you might be allergic to the bonding glue, stop by the salon before your appointment so we can do a test patch on your forearm.

Can we rent the salon for a private party or event?
Yes! Swink is a fantastic place to hold a bridal shower, bachelorette party, meeting, event or girls get together. We can customize the experience for an unforgettable experience. Email us at bridal@swinkstylebar.com for pricing and details.
Why book a bridal appointment instead of a standard appointment?
Our goal for any customer is to feel and look beautiful, especially on your wedding day! Bridal appointments are scheduled with plenty of time in order to create a stress-free day. A 60-minute hair trial appointment (and/or 45 minute makeup trial appointment) is included in the bridal price for brides and optional for bridesmaids and moms. This is your time to communicate to your stylist your ideas/desires for your wedding day hair and/or makeup. We take photos at the trial appointment and complete a makeup chart. We attempt to schedule your trial appointment with the same stylist on your trial date as well as your wedding date. In the unforeseen event your assigned stylist is not available on your wedding date we have the trial photos/makeup chart for another stylist to refer to. Additionally, when you book bridal services, you receive personal attention from our Bridal Coordinator. If you need to make any changes/additions/deletions to your bridal party appointments, she will assist you with this, ensuring you and the members of your bridal party are well taken care of.
What if I don’t want to book a bridal appointment and only want Swink’s standard appointments?
You are welcome to do this, just call our front desk as our Bridal Coordinator only books and monitors bridal appointments. But please know that weekends (when most weddings occur) are very busy and standard appointments are often scheduled back to back with very little (if any) room to make changes or adjustments during or after your appointment. That being said, we do beautiful hair and makeup all the time in a standard appointment. It really comes down to your comfort level with the time factor, not having a trial appointment, and not having our Bridal Coordinator monitoring and making sure your bridal party gets priority if there are any changes to our schedule.
Why do I need to sign a bridal agreement?
A bridal agreement officially books your wedding day appointments for you and your bridal party. It allows us to staff properly on your wedding day and ensures everyone is in agreement regarding services, timing, payment and cancellation policies.
What is the next step after I sign a bridal agreement?
Once a signed agreement is received by our Bridal Coordinator, she will send you an email notifying you she received the agreement and to contact her to schedule your trial appointment. The bridal coordinator will send another email with a schedule of wedding day appointments so you can review it and make any adjustments to the schedule. All communication should go through our Bridal Coordinator to ensure all changes are implemented and no conflicts arise.
What if I can’t make it into Swink prior to my wedding day for a trial hair or makeup appointment?
We have an option of a 75 minute hair appointment on the day of your wedding. It allows extra, extra time for any changes or adjustments. Although we still advise you to schedule a trial appointment when possible, we understand that it may not be possible to come in advance of your wedding date and we want to provide you a bridal service that fits your needs. A wedding day makeup appointment without a trial appointment is also available. Please see our Bridal Section for pricing information. One-time false lashes are very popular for the day and are $15.
What if I don’t like my hair/makeup after my trial appointment?
We feel a trial appointment is very important and we do our very best to ensure you are happy with your stylist, hair and/or makeup. Trial hair appointments take about 1 hour and trial makeup appointments take about 45 minutes. We generally can try one hairstyle during a trial appointment. If a second trial appointment is needed so you can try a different hairstyle, the price is the same as the initial trial appointment. If you are not happy with your results after your trial appointment you are under no further obligation unless you have signed our bridal agreement and cancel your entire wedding less than 30 days prior to your wedding day. Then you are obligated to the cancellation fee as stated on your bridal agreement.
One of my bridesmaids doesn’t want anything fancy. Can she book a standard appointment?
Most brides book bridal appointments for their bridesmaids, moms and flower girls. But sometimes a bridesmaid prefers to do her own hair/makeup or just is doesn’t want anything fancy like an up do. While it is fun to come in as a group, your bridesmaids are welcome to book a standard appointment through our front desk. Please note: our bridal coordinator only books and monitors bridal appointments. If one of your bridesmaids books a standard appointment, it won’t be included on your bridal agreement and any changes would need to go through our front desk instead of our bridal coordinator.
My mom/grandma doesn’t have much hair. Can they book a standard appointment?
We fully understand this situation. We will allow you to book a standard appointment for them through our Bridal Coordinator.
Do I wash my hair before I come in for my trial or wedding day appointment? Do I come with a bare face?
Our bridal appointments do not include a wash. We spend the entire time styling your hair so it is done to perfection. It is best to come to your trial and wedding day hair appointments with clean, dry hair. If your hair is on the dry side and does better the next day that is fine as well. Our stylists will use the appropriate hair products on your dry hair to ensure it holds well for your wedding day. If you or your bridesmaids would like a wash and blow dry before your bridal appointment, just let us know. Please try to come to your makeup trial appointment with a clean, moisturized face. If you are not able to do this, we have makeup remover wipes for your use.
Can I bring in pictures/ideas to show my stylist what I want or do I have to select from your menu? Can I bring in my veil? Do you do updos/styles not listed on your menu?
You are welcome to bring any pictures of hairstyles you see in bridal magazines or online for inspiration. You are not limited to the up dos or styles listed on our website menu. If you have a picture of your wedding dress (so the stylist can see your neckline), or if you have your veil, feel free to bring these. Your trial appointment is 60 minutes and the stylist will implement your ideas and make any modifications/adjustments so your hair is just how you imagined it. Please note: since the trial is only for one hour, it may not be possible to implement more than one style. If you want to try multiple styles, it would be best to schedule a second trial hair appointment and the cost is the same price as the initial trial appointment.
Can I bring in my own makeup artist?
Swink does beautiful bridal makeup and we have a broad range of products that photograph really well. We do not allow outside makeup artists to come to Swink for these reasons as well as for health code compliance.
Does Swink offer Airbrush makeup?
We use and offer several product lines that photograph really well and are appropriate for for all skin types, including sensitive skin. We do not offer airbrush makeup at this time.
What is included in a Private Party?
Having a private party at Swink is a fabulous way to start your wedding day. Our salon is closed to the public so you and your bridal party can be properly pampered. We provide appetizers, sweets, Champagne and non-alcoholic beverages. We’ll put on some great music so everyone can have a fun and stress-free experience. The private party includes up to 4 hours of privacy. Actual time to be determined based on number of people and services. The cost of hair and makeup services in not included in the rental fee.
Can I bring in Champagne or food for my bridal party?
When you book a private party at Swink, we provide all the food and beverages (including Champagne) for your entire bridal party. When you book your bridal party as “services-only” we most likely will be providing services to other clients during your time at Swink. Out of consideration for our other clients, we ask that you don’t bring in any extra food and beverages. We provide one complimentary glass of Champagne per person but you are welcome to bring in extra Champagne for your ladies.
Is there a place for us to sit and hang out while we are waiting for the other ladies in our bridal party?
Unless you have booked a private party, it is best for each person to come to Swink at, or slightly before, their scheduled appointment time. With our private party option, your entire bridal party should arrive at the schedule start time so you all can enjoy the snacks and beverages provided for your party.
Do you offer group discounts on your bridal services?
Our current bridal prices are very competitive and we do not currently offer discounts for groups. We do provide a discount to brides who book our Bridal Package, which includes a hair and makeup trial appointment as well as hair and makeup on the wedding day (a total of 4 appointments).
Why is a reservation fee automatically included for bridal services?
We make a great effort and provide personal service from start to finish to ensure your wedding day services go as smoothly as possible. From the initial booking, to scheduling your trial appointments, to coordinating your wedding day appointments so they meet your timing needs, we are constantly monitoring your bridal party appointments and making sure everything is all set for your big day!
